design, supply and installation of advanced optimised renewable energy systems

Solar Thermal

Technically – solar thermal is the simplest method of capturing renewable energy.

Reduce heating fuel costs by 60 to 70% for hot water and 30 to 50% for heating (averaged throughout the year).

uSwitch have predicted that energy bills could increase fourfold by 2020 – costs have more than doubled in the last 5 years.

You could generate significant income over the next 10 – 25 years when the Renewable Heat Incentives are confirmed by the government.

At the moment the scheme outlined means that beginning in April 2011 properties which have installed solar thermal systems will receive 18p/kWh of allowable energy produced for a period of 20 years. (Allowable energy is the level deemed as a reasonable requirement for that building by a qualified installer – (that’s why it is important to choose the right supplier).

Typical “revenue” for a three bedroom home would be £250 pa for an outlay of approx £3000 plus savings on fuel bills and a longer boiler life.

Other renewable energy sources can be added – such as a gasefying wood burning boiler, and receive additional payment as well.

How does it work?

How Solar Thermal Flat Panels work

The most efficient systems use a combination of evacuated tubes - to reduce heat loss and maximize gains from the sun’s orbit - and heat pipes to boost the effect of the sun’s rays and efficiently transfer heat to a header pipe and onwards to your hot water tank.
Tube systems passively track the sun throughout the day – absorbing energy even through cloud cover.
